Hitting the fashion markets is always a blast, but this past September Lisa had the opportunity to brush elbows with two fabulous designers, Johnathan Kayne and Alex Garfield. It was an evening full of fashion, dinner, drinks and laughs.
Designers are an interesting breed, but these two are not only amazingly talented, but also outspoken advocates for charitable initiatives that they align themselves with.
Johnathan Kayne is the National Spokesperson for IT’S MY PROM which is a charitable organization promoting safe choices during prom season. He is a founding member of the 4 HEALTHY KIDS organization which is active in the Norman elementary school system and promotes healthy life styles in children. Kayne works tirelessly for the American Cancer Association and the American Heart Association. His newest endeavor is the establishment of OKC FASHION WEEK which should make its appearance in spring 2011.
Alex Garfield has always been committed to having time and money "to make a difference in the lives of those people who I've been privileged enough to have known ... to make our world a sweeter place." Alex owns an organization called Peace of Cloth, and has served on the Board of Directors of Dress for Success for 10 years. Their mission is to "inspire strength and confidence for their clients competing for a new job, by providing them with clothing that enables them to feel self-assured and poised in an interview. Suits to self-sufficiency." He is most proud of being part of the very first Cure by Design shows and has been the spokesperson ever since.
What a phenomenal night!
